Privacy Policy

How UnImpact, operated by Elopumbra, handles your data. Written plainly; not legal advice, and to be reviewed by counsel before a wider public launch. The short version: we hold as little as we can.

The short version

There are no ads and no third-party analytics or trackers on UnImpact. Today, the records you create stay in your own browser. When you sign in to publish, we store the email you sign in with and the content you choose to make public, nothing more than that.

What we collect

Content you create on your device. Impact records, wiki edits, sources, evidence lines, and drafts are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device. Until you publish, they are not sent to us and we cannot see them.

Account information. When you sign in, we (through Supabase) store your email address and an authentication token so we can attribute and moderate your contributions. Sign-in is passwordless, a one-time link, so we never hold a password.

Content you publish. Records, sources, edits, and pages you publish to the shared record are stored on our database and are public by design, visible to anyone with the link. Drafts you do not publish remain on your device.

Disputes and correspondence. If you file a correction or dispute, or email us, we keep what you send so we can act on it.

Automatically collected technical data. Our host (Vercel) processes standard request logs, IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.

Place lookups. When you type a ZIP code or place to locate a decision, the service may send only that place text to a third-party lookup service (zippopotam.us) to resolve it to a county or coordinates. No account or record data is included, and if the lookup is unavailable the place is kept as you typed it.

How we use it

• to run the service, showing the map, the wiki, and the records;
• to attribute and moderate contributions, and to enforce the Terms;
• to respond to corrections, disputes, and your messages;
• to keep the service secure and reliable.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the providers that make the service work, and only as needed:

• Vercel, hosting and request logs. Privacy policy ↗

• zippopotam.us, optional place lookup, as described above.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of people and the service. We do not otherwise sell or rent your data.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The service uses your browser’s local storageto keep your records and drafts on your device, and, when you sign in, a token so you stay signed in. Clearing your browser storage removes your local drafts, so export anything you want to keep first.

How long we keep it

Local content lives on your device until you clear it. Published content and account data are kept while your account is active and for as long as the content remains part of the shared record; you can request deletion at any time. Server logs are retained for a limited period by our host for security and operations.

Your choices and rights

• Export or clear your local data from within the app at any time.
• Delete your account and published content, or request a correction, by emailing us. Removing published content does not erase copies others may already have made or quoted.
• California residents: you may request to know what personal information we hold about you, request its deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below.

Security

We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and database rules that prevent anyone from altering the shared record without signing in. No system is perfectly secure; please use a secure email account, since that is how you sign in.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

The service is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there. If you use it from elsewhere, you consent to that transfer and processing.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
